Ironically, Marie Kondo's decluttering process (officially called the KonMari Method) requires you to buy more stuff — storage boxes, actually. Even though she stresses the importance of her techniques rather than stockpiling methods, we can't help but notice the pretty boxes she uses on "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo." They're actually one of her own creations: The Hikidashi Box Set, available in four Japanese-inspired patterns, sells — er, sold — for $89. The six-piece sets have been sold out since they were released last summer.

Luckily, there are similar styles. Check out these affordable storage box alternatives and start tidying ASAP.

This four-piece set, which has more than 2,000 reviews on Amazon, is strikingly similar to Kondo's. Reviewers rave about how deep the containers are, which make it easy to store folded clothes and undergarments.

Her boxes may be inscribed with uplifting phrases ("Things that are cherished shine," for example), but these organizers have polka dots, which are just as sweet.
